New IAH-Network of Socio-Hydrogeology

Together with colleagues, THESys researcher Theresa Frommen founded the IAH-Network of Socio-Hydrogeology (IAH-SHG) at the IAH (International Association of Hydrogeology) Congress in Málaga, Spain.

The goal of this newly developed network is to promote the integration of social sciences into hydrogeology and to include local perspectives into hydrogeological assessment by developing concepts how inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation and research can be carried out. Furthermore, the network aims to highlight the importance of science communication and to serve as a platform for hydrogeologists (and other scientists/people) who already work at the interface between society and groundwater.

The founders of the network are Theresa Frommen, Dr. Viviana Re and Dr. Shrikant Limaye. The 46th IAH Congress “Groundwater management and governance – coping with water scarcity” took place from 22-27 September 2019 in Málaga, Spain.
