Josephine Lang and Lilli Johanna Schlünz (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) receive the Berlin Award for Excellence in Teaching 2026 (‘Landeslehrpreis Berlin 2026‘) for the ‘Studium Oecologicum’ at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The award ceremony will take place on 1 July 2026 at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik.

The Studium Oecologicum (StudOec) addresses socio-ecological transformations of our time. It offers the lecture series ‘Der Grüne Faden’ (The Green Thread), featuring weekly talks by experts, and the project tutorial ‘Studieren Transformieren’ (Studying, Transforming), in which knowledge is actively translated into projects – for example, by helping to shape future teaching.

The Studium Oecologicum emerged during a course on Sustainability and Global Justice (“Themenklasse Nachhaltigkeit und globale Gerechtigkeit”) run by IRI THESys in 2014-15 and was implemented by students engaged in the student’s ‘Sustainability Office’ initiative.

This marks yet another major success for the student-run ‘Studium Oecologicum’, which had already been awarded the HU Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2025 (‘Preis für gute Lehre der Humboldt-Universität’).
