Postdoctoral Researcher
Isabel Díaz Reviriego is an interdisciplinary environmental scientist and Principal Investigator of the DFG-funded WEAVE project Plural Values of Urban Foragingscapes in Edible Cities at IRI THESys, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Her current research examines how urban foraging practices produce plural values and reconfigure relationships between people, plants, food, and urban environments, with a focus on environmental and epistemic justice. Drawing on sustainability science, feminist political ecology, and biocultural diversity she combines inter- and transdisciplinary research, art-based methods, and knowledge co-production with diverse societal actors.
She holds a PhD in Environmental Science from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and degrees in Ecology and Biology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Her research has spanned socio-ecological transformations, Indigenous and local knowledge, biocultural diversity, environmental governance, gender and justice, with a particular focus on long-term, place-based research in Latin America, specially Bolivia. Before joining IRI THESys, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Leuphana University Lüneburg and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). She has also contributed to international science–policy processes, including IPBES, and worked as a gender consultant supporting the integration of intersectional perspectives into research and policy initiatives.
Isabel is a member of the Careoperative and a works with Fractal, two academic collectives that foster collaborative and critical approaches to knowledge production.
