2016-17 Sustainable Food Markets
For the fourth time, 17 Bachelor and Master Students of the Departments of European Ethnology, Philosophy, Geography, Agricultural Economics and Economics were funded by Stiftung Humboldt-Universität in 2016-17 to perform joint small research projects on the larger topic of ‘Humboldt´s footprint’. Continuing one of the last year’s projects on food consumption at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the students examined further aspects of sustainability and global justice regarding selected products. Their research focused on the phenomena of regionalisation of food markets and considered different aspects of the university’s canteens such as supply chains or consumer behaviour. With an interdisciplinary research approach, the reseach group aimed for different perspectives combined with disciplinary knowledge and experience and used both qualitative and quantitative methods. Instead of splitting up in smaller subgroups as in the years before, the students decided to use the potential of the whole group in order to solve joint research questions.
