Since 2015, the IRI THESys has been awarding prizes for excellent Bachelor and Master theses in the field of human-environmental research. Now, all bachelor and master graduates of HU Berlin are again invited to apply for our THESys Award! Applications can be submitted during the application period from 15 September to 15 November 2023.

Who can apply?

The THESys Award honors particularly dedicated Bachelor and Master theses that deal with a sustainability topic from the research fields of land, water, food, climate or infrastructure & energy. All students of HU Berlin with a thesis in German or English can apply. The only condition: The theses must be handed in between 01 October 2022 and 30 September 2023 and must already be graded.

What to win?

The THESys Award is given in two categories, i.e. for Bachelor and Master. In each category a first prize of EUR 250 and a second prize of EUR 150 is awarded. Prizes may be used for academic books, scientific travel or the publication of the thesis. Cash payment is not possible. The winners will receive a certificate and will be presented on the IRI THESys website.

The awarding ceremony takes place on 11th of January 2024 as part of the lecture series Der grüne Faden of the student-driven Sustainability Office at HU Berlin. The winners will be given the opportunity to present their theses in a short lecture to the audience.
