    KOSMOS-Lesung by Cigdem Issever

Expedition Large Hadron Collider - Journey into the unknown

    When? 19.08.2021, 18:00 – 19:30
Where? HU Berlin, North Campus, open air stage (access via Philippstr. 13, 10115 Berlin)

This lecture will provide an introduction to particle physics and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) research program at CERN. The collision energy of the LHC accelerator is the highest in the world, enabling the study of states of matter and forces that prevailed shortly after the Big Bang. The lecture will include the physics of the Higgs boson recently discovered at the LHC, how elementary particles acquire mass, and dark matter searches.

With: Prof. Dr. Cigdem Issever, Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

The event is part of the Wissensstadt Berlin and HU's Open Humboldt Festival.
