Doctoral Researcher
Christiane Hamann is a doctoral researcher at the Geography Department at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Her academic background in Human Geography, completed with an MA in Urban Geography from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, shaped her interest in human-environment interactions and social science perspectives on climate change.
Building on this foundation, her doctoral research focuses on Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) approaches in Germany. She examines how local social, ecological, and technical conditions influence the feasibility, sustainability, and justice implications of different CDR options, with the aim of contributing to more context-sensitive and socially-responsible climate policy. Her PhD project is supervised by Prof. Dr. Sabine Fuss.
