Last week saw the release of the Planetary Health Check 2026, which highlights mounting pressures across Earth’s life-support systems.
The annual assessment is co-authored by IRI THESys researchers Dieter Gerten and Heindriken Dahlmann, together with scientists from the Planetary Boundaries Science Lab at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), including PIK Director Johan Rockström.
“Accelerating action to return to the safe operating space across all Planetary Boundaries is essential to protect lives and livelihoods, and to deliver on the promise of shared future prosperity” Rockström states.
